Leading a Charmed Life

My life is such a joke.  One almost disaster followed by another I tell you.  This morning, I was supposed to fly out of Roanoke at 6 am.  A 6 am flight the morning after a wedding at an airport 45 minutes away from the wedding location.  Uh, OK, I’ve made better travel plans in my life, but it was a really good deal on the flight!

Well, Rose and I definitely overslept by two and a half hours this morning and missed our ride to the airport and, we had presumed, the flight.  Luckily for us, though, the flight was delayed by 2 hours!  How convenient :D.  Then I got to DC and instead of having to wait until 3:50 pm to leave because I’d missed the original connection, I got on standby on the next flight.  Made it back to Denver just 2 hours after the original itinerary had me there!  Sometimes, luck really is on your side.  I’ll definitely be remembering this the next time the cards aren’t falling so favorably :P.

The wedding was in Blacksburg this weekend, which is, as you can now read on the Growing Up Virginia Style page, my favorite place on earth.  All I could think about this week was which restaurants I wanted to eat at when I got there.  And there were only so many meals to be had…

First, I made it to Boudreaux’s, awesome Louisiana cajun food.  Absolutely my favorite restaurant in Blacksburg.

Mojito 😀

Gator bites.  A must, even if you are watching calories :P.

And a Cajun Grilled Salmon Salad to balance out the gator bites!

Also stopped by Souvlaki for my gyro fix.

Pita and Red Pepper Hummus Appetizer

Lamb Gyro

Gyro’s are one of those things I’m deprived of in Wyoming, so whenever I have the opportunity to enjoy devour one, this happens in 10 seconds or less…

Gyro Domination 😀

On Saturday, we grabbed some bar food at Rivermill while we were watching the World Cup England v USA game.  I love love love southern BBQ.  Can’t beat it!

And then, being the classy college graduates that we are, we went to the local favorite, El Rodeo, for some pre wedding Mexican and margaritas!!  Totally forgot to bust out the camera for food pics, so here’s my lovely posse.

El Rod's

And now for some fun wedding photos!  Erica looked amazing and a fun time was had by all over the weekend.  The Hokie Bird even showed up for the reception!!

Catching up at Hokie House the night before the wedding…

There was lots of this…

Walking down the aisle…

Love this.  The bride’s actually eating at her reception!  Can you tell why we’re such good friends?? 🙂

Erica Hittin' Up her Buffet 😉

I was ready to dig in!

Chow Time

I wasn’t actually that hungry though.  Here’s a pic of the crazy best carrot cupcake I’ve ever had, though.  I was huge fan of the generous amount of icing!  Kinda hard to see here, but the icing was about half the thickness of the cupcake itself!

Hokie bird!

Rosemary and I were tearing up the dance floor ;).

Bride and groom leaving through a storm of bubbles.

Congrats Erica and Mike!

Here were my eats while flying.  I didn’t do any snack planning/packing which is so out of the ordinary for me, so I had to make due with what I could buy in the airport or on the plane :/.
